I had a super exciting photoshoot this week. I became an Indian for a day! I love culture & tradition and admire everything about Indian weddings. I've had quite a few Indian brides in the past few years and I learn more and more about the culture every time. From the Henna's (super trendy now) to the Lengha/Sari (dresses) to the jewelry; and the traditions of dancing and the bride and groom exchanging letters right before they wed & so on. It's more than just a wedding and that's what I admire most. When an Indian company (Bahirah Boutique) reached out to me for a dress, I said YES in a heartbeat. I collaborated with some of the best in the wedding industry including JayJayStudios(photography), BridalHennaBeauty(Henna artist), Hairby_Betty(Hair stylist) and Avant_Garden(Florist). Together, we pulled it off in just a weeks planning. When you trust people in the industry, you just let them do their thing and that's when magic happens.
Now, to the makeup :) Along with traditional clothes and customs, Indians have traditional makeup. Golds on the eyes and Reds on the lips. I decided I want to go for a more trendy look to get the image I wanted: a modern day Indian. As much as we all love tradition in any culture were in, we like to add some new flare without hindering the tradition. Here's what I used:
Eyes: Cut crease using the Anastasia Beverly Hills waterproof creme color in Jet. MakeUpForever earth tones to blend it upward. On my lid I have Mac Cosmetics paint pot in Indianwood and Electric Cool eyeshadow. Added some UrbanDecay Heavy Metal Glam Rock glitter. Lastly, I used AppealCosmetics lashes in Boldest.
Face: MakeUpForever Mat Velvet foundation in 45 & MakeUpForever setting powder.
Contour & Highlight: Anastasia Beverly Hills contour palette in Banana and Havana
Cheeks: Lorac Tantalizer Baked Bronzer and Laura Mercier highlighter in Candlelight
Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills dip brow and powder in Medium Brown
Lips: LimeCrime velveteen in Red Velvet & lastly,
Nails: HudaBeauty clip on nails
Hope you guys love the photos as much as I do! Xoxo
