Let’s talk about red lips, shall we? There’s something extremely glamorous and timeless about red lipstick, but many shun the bold hue because they don’t think they can pull it off. I’ve heard time and time again from my clients that they love red lipstick, but it just doesn’t work for them. Well, I’ve got news for you. Contrary to popular belief, red lipstick is universally fabulous. All you need to do is find the perfect shade for your skin tone. Bold lipstick and deep hues are especially trendy this season. Don’t miss out on this sultry fall and winter look. Take these tips into consideration and give the reds another test drive!
Beauties with lighter skin should gravitate towards reds with blueish tones. Yes, you read that correctly…blue! Certain shades of red lipstick have blueish undertones giving them a more rosy feel instead of orange. Blueish reds are great for ladies with lighter skin (fair, ivory, porcelain, beige, etc.) because they accentuate the rosy undertones in light skin and warm up the face. Although those with yellow undertones can also reach for a blueish red, it won’t be their best match! Some of my favorite blue-based lipsticks are MAC’s Ruby Woo, and Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl. For a budget-friendly drugstore find, opt for NYX Hero.
Have any favorite shades of red that I didn’t mention? Let me know! A girl can never have too many tubes of red lipstick ;)
